We are raising to put evidence-based stress reduction in front of people who cannot currently reach it. Here is what we do, what it costs, and what your money buys.

Our record

What we have delivered

  • Fifty-four courses since 2016, with 800 to 900 people completing one.

Eight-week MBSR courses delivered live online, following the University of Massachusetts curriculum. Roughly 1,000 people started and four in five finished, joining from 43 countries.

  • Twenty-four guided practices, recorded by five instructors.

From one-minute pauses to forty-five-minute body scans, written and recorded in house and given away free.

  • More than thirty volunteers keep the organization running.

Accounting, grants, administration, marketing, IT, video production, curriculum review, nonprofit compliance, program support and practice resources.

The method

Built on MBSR

MBSR has decades of clinical research behind it, including a 2022 randomized trial in JAMA Psychiatry in which it performed at least as well as a first-line anxiety medication.

Research on MBSR is research on the method, not on our programs. Clinical studies of MBSR do not transfer to Im2 courses, and we do not claim they do.

Your money

Where the money goes

MBSR figures are actuals from nine years of delivery. Beginnings figures are early estimates while the program rolls out.

One place on a course

About $160 for Beginnings. On MBSR, taught entirely by volunteers, a place cost us about $30.

One full course

About $3,500 to run Beginnings end to end. An MBSR course cost about $450.

Course production

The practice library, twenty-four recordings and nearly eight hours, was produced in house by volunteer instructors and given away free.

Talk to us

Grants are relationships, not forms. If you fund work in mental health, health equity or young adult wellbeing, we would rather have a conversation than send you a PDF.
