Evidence

Two different things, kept apart on purpose: what the research says about the method, and what we ourselves have delivered.

Research on MBSR is research on the method, not on our programs. Clinical studies of MBSR do not transfer to Im2 courses, and we do not claim they do.

Research on the method
  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction performed at least as well as escitalopram, a first-line anxiety medication, in a randomized clinical trial.

Hoge EA, Bui E, Mete M, Dutton MA, Baker AW, Simon NM. JAMA Psychiatry, 2022.

  • A meta-analysis found MBSR associated with health benefits across a range of conditions.

Grossman P, Niemann L, Schmidt S, Walach H. Journal of Psychosomatic Research, 2004.

  • Mindfulness-based interventions have an established evidence base in the management of chronic pain.

Majeed MH, Ali AA, Sudak DM. Journal of Psychosomatic Research, 2017.

Our own record

What Im2 itself has delivered, which is a separate question from what the research says, is set out on the funding page.
